In this new entry in our ‘Diamonds In The Rough’ category, we want to introduce you to upcoming artist Amelie Rose and her brand new single titled “Feeling Good”.
Amelie Rose introduces herself:
“I’m Amelie Rose! I was born in Bologna in 2003, music has always been a part of my life, a part of me. Ever since I was little I have always loved singing, but I started studying it in 2017, then I started to study the piano in 2019. I studied dynamic contemporary dance for six years, contemporary jazz dance for five years, Graham contemporary dance for five years and ballet for nine years. I’m an explosion of emotions and I’m a songwriter that loves to express them in my songs. Through music I write about things that are difficult explain with words and I hope you can identify in my songs too!”
Also check out this short Q&A with the singer:
1. When did you decide to devote yourself to music and why?
“Ever since I was a little girl I always thought that music would be part of my life, so it’s hard to know the exact moment when I made that choice, but if I had to choose one in particular, I would choose the first time I sang live in a theatre.
I wasn’t studying singing at the time, but the emotion that I felt on that stage while performing for so many people convinced me that this was what I wanted to do in life.”
2. What were your first steps in the world of music? Tell us about them.
“When I was still in middle school I practiced different kinds of dance and in the locker room I was always singing while preparing myself for lessons. Some of my classmates told to the music teachers at our middle school and they gave me the opportunity to sing in the theatre with an orchestra, which was great and that’s where it all started.
Subsequently I started taking singing lessons and then piano lessons. I started working in Carpi with the producer FILIPPIN and the Milleville music publishing – production company and record label. Later I did a feat. with ICARO in the song “Anime Rotte”, produced by Parix Hilton.
All these people that I’m mentioning are professionals that I really respect and who saw potential in me, a girl who at the time had almost no experience, but with a great desire to use her voice, to sing, with so many things to express and passion to share. I started writing and so my first two songs started coming out: the feat “ANIME ROTTE” and my first new song “FEELING GOOD”.
3. What is your musical genre?
“I would define my genre as pop-soul, a mix between pop and soul, but with a blues influence.”
4. Which artists have influenced your choice of music?
“The first ones that come to mind are Zhavia Ward, Olivia O’Brien and Tate McRae because I love their style, the atmosphere they create and the lyrics of their songs (the lyrics in a song are of immense importance to me). I admire them very much and the music I want to make is very much inspired by them. Alsob Amy Winehouse, Etta James, Aretha Franklin and Faouzia have all had a big influence on my style and singing.
Other artists who have inspired me a lot are Selena Gomez, Ali Gatie, Katy Perry, Zara Larsson, Ariana Grande, Lauv, Rihanna and Demi Lovato.”
5. What is music for you?
“Well! To say that music is my life would be trite even if it is the truth, so I will try to express this concept
with different words. Music is the refuge where I take shelter when I need to be understood. That’s what
music does, it makes you realise that you are not alone, that you are not wrong.
Sometimes society or the hustle and bustle of everyday life can make you feel inadequate or out of place, music fixes just that, music is my ‘place’. Music also accompanies me in happy moments, because it can make memories even more special.
That’s why lyrics are very important to me. I want my music to make the people who listen to it feel understood. I want to write what sometimes you can’t express well in words, because I’ve always thought and will continue to think that music is the only language that goes straight to the heart.”
6. Describe your latest single in 3 words.
“Chill, Courage and Positive.”
7. When do you expect to release a new single or album?
“I don’t know exactly yet. After the holidays I will definitely start working on it. I hope to release new singles soon, because my head is full of ideas and I can’t wait to make them concrete.”
8. Would you leave Italy to live a musical experience abroad?
“Absolutely, I love travelling and I’m convinced that it would be a wonderful experience, in fact it would be a dream come true!”
