DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH: Casimir Cadence – “Last Thing I Do”

In this new entry in our ‘Diamonds In The Rough’ category, we want to introduce you to upcoming artist Casimir Cadence and his brand new single titled “Last Thing I Do”.

Singer / Songwriter Casimir Cadence offers a fresh face to R&B. As a North Carolina native, he spent most of his childhood developing his skills as an artist & performer under the stage name Lil’MaQ. Between the ages of 10 & 17 he released his first demo, EP & full length album while touring & opening for musical acts all across the south & east coast.

Shedding his adolescent accolades and sound, Casimir Cadence is now ready to share his matured perspective on love, life and everything in between. His love for 90’s R&B and intricate vocal layering can be heard throughout his music. This is a nod to his childhood musical influences such as Brandy, Musiq Soulchild, Usher and Jagged Edge. He cites Masego, H.E.R., and Chris Brown as more modern influences.

The unique moniker “Casimir Cadence” was put together metaphorically to describe his relationship towards music. The name ‘Casimir’ has a few different meanings but here translates to “bringer of peace.” While ‘Cadence’ is quite literally a musical reference to “rhythm” & “harmonic change.” When put together you get “bringer of peace [through] music / rhythm.”

When asked about his approach to songwriting he says, “My subject matter comes from personal experiences, people and things that inspire me. I love telling stories, and writing music allows me to do that with no limitations. My point of view can change as often as I want it to. Sometimes I’m the villain, sometimes I’m the victim — sometimes I’m just an innocent bystander watching something play out. But either way I’m able to tell my story, my way. And THAT is a liberating feeling.”

Check out his new single “Last Thing I Do” on all streaming services and be sure to keep up with this rising R&B crooner on social media for more updates on new music and other projects.
