In this new entry in our ‘Diamonds In The Rough’ category, we want to introduce you to upcoming artist MoThoro and his brand new album titled Now Or Never.
Talent emerging from the “new West Coast” has been described as sharp, impactful and raw – words that also characterize Los Angeles-based rapper MoThoro and his new full-length album Now Or Never Exploring universal themes of perseverance, self-doubt, and vulnerability, MoThoro’s new album, Now Or Never is out now on all digital music platforms.
The budding artist and entrepreneur began to carve out his own lane in 2017 with the release of his successful album trilogy, ThoroLyfe, a musical project MoThoro released while attending the historically Black college, Hampton University. Now or Never shows a more mature artist, who for the first time takes a hands-on approach with mixing and mastering the 13-track album in his Los Angeles home studio.
Commonly used to convey a sense of urgency, the popular phrase used as the title of the album, Now or Never, fits the hip hop artist’s current perspective on life and his musical aspirations. When asked about the album, MoThoro states “The album is called ‘Now Or Never’ and the cover shows me in a dunk tank – symbolizing the time period right before being submerged in this music sh*t (the water) which is the point in time I’m in now.”
In the album, MoThoro explores the balance he has tried to keep throughout his life. Whether it’s balancing having life on both coasts, balancing between rapping and singing and being respected as an EMCEE, or balancing between work life and music – these are all topics that are sprinkled throughout the project. Since a year ago, the artist recorded all the songs and had been developing content, as he puts it, “all building up to this moment right here!”
