In this new entry in our ‘Diamonds In The Rough’ category, we want to introduce you to upcoming artist Original God and his brand new single titled “Song Of Saya” featuring Kellin Quinn.
Original God drops the collaboration of the year in his new single “Song of Saya,” featuring vocals from Sleeping With Sirens frontman Kellin Quinn, with production by Good Charlotte guitarist Billy Martin and Brody McKeegan. Linking up with the lineup of pop-punk idols came about unexpectedly. Original God reached out to a mutual friend regarding a possible collaboration, and the song began to form when Quinn expressed his interest in working together. The emo hip hop artist is inspired by metal, industrial, and pop, all of which clearly shines through in the genre-defying track. Releasing on Cleopatra Records March 21st, 2022, the artist and label reunite together following the successful release of Original God’s 2020 album Suspiriorum.
The song takes inspiration from the Japanese eroge horror visual novel Saya No Uta, which “deals with finding love after death in a strange hellscape.” The story resonates deeply with Original God, who has the main character tattooed on him. Heavily influenced by manga and anime, “Song of Saya” is an ode to the dark themes of the visual novel. Original God explains that the lyrics are meant to capture the emotions of “the end of the world,” and find a path to “love yourself no matter what intrusive thoughts come your way.”
Extending a hand to others through his lyrics and songs is a lifelong passion of the performer, who began singing at an early age. His path as Original God began in 2016, which led him to play sold-out shows to touring in Japan with Midnight Society by 2018. Working with influential artists such as Lil Peep, Original God has steadily released five EPs and four albums following his rise to Internet fame. With “Song of Saya,” the complex artist continues to develop the creative world that surrounds his music.
