In this new entry in our ‘Diamonds In The Rough’ category, we want to introduce you to upcoming artist Phoebe Day and her brand new single titled “Storm Coming”.
Cypriot/Australian singer-songwriter Phoebe Day, gives audiences a lush first taste of her upcoming album with lead single “Storm Coming”. The single presents a tapestry of soulful vocal arrangements, urban beats and dreamy synths, marking the beginning of a new era for the artist.
Refreshingly more up-tempo than her previous releases, ‘Storm Coming’ finds Day navigating uncertainty and the underlying anxiety of the unknown – a fitting theme for artists worldwide in the current climate.”You say: slow down baby I can wait, slow down nothing’s gonna change, but I can feel a storm coming’ she sings.
Whilst maintaining the sultry, jazz-infused sound her fans know and love, Day showcases a musical evolution with ‘Storm Coming’. She has taken control of her music like never before, producing, arranging and performing most instruments on the track herself. Day is unafraid to break down traditional genre barriers and explores more contemporary production with an intricate electronic beat, retro keys sounds and heavy bass lines. Quirky samples of thunder storms, rain and howling winds complete the soundscape. ‘Storm Coming’ was recorded in Day’s home studio and cements her skills as a producer.
The track will be accompanied by an official music video to be released in October. Day teased a moody black and a white trailer for both single and video on social media. Sporting a high-fashion, vogue look, Day partnered with renowned Australian designer label, Jacinta James for the accompanying visuals. Day can be seen draped in classic, sensual and timeless pieces – a seemingly perfect pairing between label and artist.
If “Storm Coming” is any indication, there is definitely something big coming for Phoebe Day and her upcoming album. Her album will be released with Artist Development and Media support from Cartel Management.
