DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH: Terry Jones – “Silent Like Chaplin”

Terry Jones Silent Like Chaplin videoIn this new entry in our ‘Diamonds In The Rough’ category, we want to introduce you to upcoming artist Terry Jones and his brand new video for his single titled “Silent Like Chaplin”.

Terry Jones is announcing a new EP in collaboration with Miami via Cali, Colombia based rapper/artist Dashius Clay. To kick off the release, Terry is sharing the music video (directed by John Zeller) for a previously released single off his album Friday The 14th that got him an album deal with Boost Collective.

The video for “Silent LIke Chaplin,” Terry says, “is the story of how ‘outspoken’ Blacks in America are often treated negatively for having opinions. Black public figures are always treated well when they ‘stay in line’ with societal standards. Anytime we speak out they want to silence us with intimidation. I’ve dealt with this throughout my time in entertainment. This is where the Charlie Chaplin inspiration came from, ironically Charlie was a silent actor who became scrutinized for his political speaking role in ‘The Great Dictator.’ I wanted to prove that in transitioning from comedy into music, I want to be taken seriously and will not be silenced for speaking my truth.”

The Bebop Summer EP is a collaborative project between rappers Terry Jones and Dashius Clay. The project is coming off the success of the lead single “They Call Me El Guapo”. The project is produced by the upcoming future super producer Xyber Beats.
